Delicious Blackberry Jam

Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing an easy jam recipe with you, no thermometers or preservatives needed. Also the jam is able to last approximately 6 months. This is an inspired recipe. Link will be posted at the bottom. The recipe is cost effective and keeps the mind at ease knowing that you made it yourself. The jam is just a small batch.

Ingredients:

2 cups of fresh blackberries

1 cup of granulated sugar

1 tsp of half a lemon juice or apple cider vinegar

Preparations

  • In a medium size bowl place berries, lemon juice or vinegar and sugar. Combine and let berries sit on the counter top for at least 1 1/2 hours. This allows time For the berries to break down enough to boil. Your berries should have a soupy consistency when ready or have a similar look to the image below.

  • Place hot water in a small glass jar, up until the time you are ready to place jam in it.

  • Put a plate in the freezer ( this is for testing the jam‘s consistency when it is finished)

After breakdown

Method:

  • After the berries have successfully been prepped, place them in a medium saucepan and set to medium heat. The heat cannot be too high or not the jam will begin to burn, stick to the bottom and it will be a disaster.

  • Stir constantly on medium heat for about 20 minutes or until the foam has disappeared. The jam will make a deep bubble pop sound, one that resembles a thick soup. Remove from heat.

  • Take a spoon filled with a little bit of jam and place on plate. Allow a couple of seconds to cool. Take your finger and slide through jam. The jam should remain in place without being runny.

  • Remove water from jar and place the hot jam in the jars. Allow to cool and serve. Refrigerate after use.
